Ambleme is a lifestyle brand founded in the summer of 2018 by Stefanie Fusi, Swiss – Italian eclectic creative consultant.
The project emerged from a meticulous synthesis, reimagining flat sandals to deliver timeless elegance, unparalleled comfort and durability that can withstand the test of time.
This is achieved through the study of a distinctive, yet iconic, sole construction and an unwavering commitment to elevating the aesthetic of the design without compromising on any of its possible finishes.
The driving force behind Ambleme is Stefanie Fusi’s aspiration to create a flattering, sophisticated and versatile flat sandal that possesses the qualities of a genuine shoe and that seamlessly transitions from everyday activities to nighttime soirées.
Ethos
All around us lies a wealth of small pleasures, which - if only we paid more attention - could daily bring us solace and joy. In the pursuit of pleasure, and in limiting our possessions to the essential lies real value for a rich life. We wish to offer products not necessarily linked to seasons and trends, that effortlessly accompany the wearer through representation, leisure and discovery in the quest for happiness. At Ambleme we embrace a slower concept of living encouraging our community to buy less, choose quality and treasure what you have.
“Attention to details is at the heart of our philosophy. The beauty of craftsmanship is that it molds everything with care and as we approach a slower concept of living we value the sensibility that is put in every art.”
The process is a legacy
By working closely with an array of hand-picked local artisans we created the first timeless collection of uttermost quality flat sandals with an understated and contemporary feeling.
The result was a debut versatile collection of staple sandals meticulously handcrafted in Milan incorporating architectural shapes and functionality concepts with unique materials.
In a world where mass production dominates, the brand’s approach is to preserve the traditional handcraft processes with its precise expertises heritage and to collaborate with artisans to keep local, existing techniques alive.
Stefanie’s dedication to handcraft techniques is the legacy of her Italian culture, where handcrafting is not just a skill, but a way of slow life which emphasises conscious choices valuing quality over quantity. Each piece she creates carries a story, woven with time, passion and dedication.
Materials are sourced locally, selecting the finest quality Italian leathers, mostly sourced from Tuscan tanneries, and renowned haute couture silk from Como.
Material means research: to find the perfect piece of leather, or fabric, or finishing, that gives the piece of design its special character and sophisticated style.
Attention to details is everything.
Ambleme is part of the design choice of selected stores, boutiques and hotels as: Antonioli, Blu Boutique Capri, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu, Tessabit and many others.
A urban, Mediterranean eclectic journey
The Ambleme collections originate from the synthesis of two worlds: the enchanting discovery of the Mediterranean, with its surprising landscapes and architectures, reflected in an eclectic colour palette and pared back designs, and the vibrant urban design culture of Milan.
Modernism architecture lay as inspiration in our abstraction of fashion into the fundamentals of texture, form and colour.
Each sandal is named after and inspired by a different architectural masterpiece overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Ambleme continually seeks to discover the extraordinarily raw beauty of everyday life, finding subtle yet delightful references to nature, colours, textures and atmospheres and transforms them into minimalistic designs. Each creation is thoughtfully crafted to capture the essence of these influences and tell unexpected stories.
The name
The brand name is derived from the word amble, which means to walk at leisurely relaxed pace for pleasure and emblem, a distinctive representation serving as a symbol of a particular quality or concept. The origin of the word amble derives from the Middle English, originally denoting a horse’s gait, from Old French ambler, from Latin ambulare “to walk”.
An amble, or the amble, is foremost an allure.
In French, allure is one’s way and speed of moving and being, as well as the unique impression they make through their presence.
In English, an allure is defined as the quality of being powerfully and mysteriously attractive or fascinating.
In Italian, allure translates to andatura, portamento and aspetto, or speed, one’s way of carrying themselves, and one’s overall appearance.
Across idioms, an allure is both tangible and emotion, set between the physical reality and the realm of feelings.
It’s both concrete and completely immaterial. It is the reflection of one’s very essence; it defines the vibe that surrounds them; it lingers in people’s minds and hearts.
It stands for all the little things that make a person appear the way they do. The French also use the word amble to refer to a moderated pace, as do the English. This phrasing has been used figuratively in literature to indicate characters who moved through life slowly, who took their time, who chose not to hurry.
More current than ever, the need for a life pace at human scale, which gives one time to intake all inputs and appreciate the ride, is also connected to amble.
Amble as a moderate pace is also used today, especially in English.
